Abstract

This article reviews the main linguistic features associated with the language-contact area between Quechua –mainly- and Spanish in the central-andean region during the first centuries of the Colony. Through the analysis of documents, some of them unpublished, it is postulated that it is possible to reconstruct the development of castilianization imposed by evangelization and the regulations of the Spanish crown.
